The search

December 6th, 2006

logo.gifThe search on mobile is entering the phase of being reality. In the beginning of the decade, the mobile internet, WAP, was the next big thing with large investments in companies. After the bobble crash, WAP became crap. Now, about seven years after the launch, with 3G becoming fact, mobile internet begins to work. More than 85% of 3G subscribers in Israel are using mobile internet.

So, if we have internet – what about the search. Google have mobile search service. The results are not so good, the appearance of the sites on the mobile screen is even worse. So the solution should be automatic conversion of the site to WAP in order to make it usable. Some startups are working on this area. One of them I know pretty well - Israeli company named Targetize. The FT wrote about them yesterday: “An Israeli Company named Targetize has made internet searching from a mobile phone so effective that it almost sets a new standard for web-based search.”

Our company also tried the product and it’s working very well – the search gives good results, the sites looks readable. The only disadvantage is that the sites should sign agreement with the company. Now we are left with two main questions:

What Google will do in this area? What will happen to the operator’s portal when the search could bring the user to any site and who will make money out of it? The mobile operator? Google? Maybe both?

The Bibi Blog

December 5th, 2006

bibi.jpgIt’s live, up and running. former israeli prime minister, benjamin netanyahu, launched today his blog (www.netanyahu.co.il). it’s only in hebrew, but it’s a start. Netanyahu is the first israeli politican that uses the internet and he is doing it quiet good.

Collection of Videos from his previews interviews, as well as background and comments tool - the only question is will he write daily posts.

When Israeli leadrship is getting to the point where it can’t get lower, Bibi is doing one more right move in order to conquer the next elections. now he talks directly to the public.
